B1 Evaluation

Image
Working in the media industry and Higher Education.  After consideration and research on options for my future academic options, i am planning on going to Sunderland university to study Film, TV and media production. I also considered apprenticeships but decided against it due to the amount of competition there is between candidates along with the lack of opportunities for media apprenticeships in the North East. Another reason i decided to go down the University route is because of my interest in learning new skills in my field, both practical and theoretical, which i figured i would not get to experience both on an apprenticeships  As for careers, i have been researching jobs in companies such as BBC, IVT, Channel 4.and Netflix. I am not sure exactly what profession i want to go into yet, bit after researching these 3 companies i am impressed and interested by their opportunities and starting salaries they have to offer post graduate students. Another reason i am interested ...

Mock interview

Image
Mock interview research.pptx from SebCook3 My mock interview Feedback and response        You were very well spoken and showed confidence throughout with maintaining eye contact with the interviewer You seemed well prepared to answer questions: there didn’t seem to be any hesitation which shows you have come well organised. You demonstrated your knowledge about the BBC particularly, and their career routes and apprenticeships they have available for younger people. You were able to identify your strengths and weaknesses, specifically within your own constructive criticism which you have identified could either be both a strength and weakness. Some feedback for any future interviews you have: When an interviewer asks you to tell them about yourself, feel free to talk about any of your hobbies or interests, along with talking about what you do for college. This makes you more personable to the interviewer, and they can get to know your personality. When ...

My Create Britain profile

Image
Create Britain is a platform which allows people in the creative industry to present and promote their work to other people. It is used by people in a wide variety of professions such as actors, directors, producers and musicians.  Create Britain allows for people in the media industry and beyond to find work and collaborate with others and display their work.   My Create Britain profile.  To maintain continuity, I stuck with the colour scheme of black and white, the same colour i used for my logo design. I used my logo for my banner picture and profile picture to create a brand identity. I added links to my social media, YouTube and Blogger account so anyone viewing can see my work and also me and my personality.  I also added a brief description of who i am and what i do to give viewers an idea of who i am personally outside of industry and education. The next section is a list of work i am particularly proud of including my Culture in a digital age documenta...

Creating a Showreel

Image
Researching into Showreels: A showreel is a short video showcasing someone's previous projects. It was a way to show their experience, what they specialise in creating, their style of filmmaking and what they are capable of. There are a few key elements of a showreel and they are: -Keeping it short in order to let your audience want more. you will find that most Showreels are   between 1:30 and 3 minutes long.    - Including your best work and present yourself as a professional and experienced filmmaker. - Using stock footage, visuals, graphics etc. to transition between different different projects.  Analysing existing Showreels:  I think this is a good example of a showreel. Firstly, the clips they show are short, snappy and visually pleasing, most only lasting 1-2 seconds. The use of short clips makes it so the audience can get a lot of different examples of the creator's work. It also lets the creator show more of their work in the limited time frame....

designing a business card

Image
Designing a business card.pptx from SebCook3 Business card feedback The feedback i have received on my business card has helped me narrow down my decision regarding which design i should use. There is clearly a stronger design out of the 2 i presented and am confident that the design would be well received by a potential client or employer.  How I created my business card I created my business card using Adobe Photoshop. I decided to use this software as it has all of the necessary tools to create a well designed business card. Firstly, I used the shape tool to create the blue background, making sure to create it as a separate layer so i was able to put all of the other layers on top of it. I wanted to implement my logo onto my business card, however, since i created the logo all in different layers, i had to use the layer link tool in order to move all of the portions of the logo all at once. This also allowed me to copy and paste the logo from the logo photosh...

designing a logo

Image
How i created my logo To create my logo i used Adobe Photoshop. I chose to do this because the software has a lot of features which allow for additional, precise and accurate manipulation of my image.  Firstly, I created the shapes for my logo using the rectangle shape tool, making use of the copy and paste feature to ensure accurate and equal measurements for the top and side of the camera. I used the eclipse tool and manipulated them to be spherical shapes. I copy and pasted the shape to make sure that the shape of the two spheres were the same. I then used the free transform tool to make one of the circles smaller than the other to create the smaller film reel. i also used the copy and paste and the colour changer tool to create the see through effect for the reels The photoshop rectangle shape tool as standard has straight edges, I decided that this makes the logo look less realistic and more off-putting for a potential client to look at. To fix this, I used the 'corn...
