designing a business card
Business card feedback
The feedback i have received on my business card has helped me narrow down my decision regarding which design i should use. There is clearly a stronger design out of the 2 i presented and am confident that the design would be well received by a potential client or employer.
How I created my business card
I created my business card using Adobe Photoshop. I decided to use this software as it has all of the necessary tools to create a well designed business card. Firstly, I used the shape tool to create the blue background, making sure to create it as a separate layer so i was able to put all of the other layers on top of it. I wanted to implement my logo onto my business card, however, since i created the logo all in different layers, i had to use the layer link tool in order to move all of the portions of the logo all at once. This also allowed me to copy and paste the logo from the logo photoshop document into the business card document.
Next, i used the shape tool again in order to create the projector light effect. i made sure to use the colour 'set colour' feature to pick my colour. To make sure to the second colour was compatible with the background colour, i used the eyedrop tool to slightly altered the original colour of the background colour to make a lighter colour.
The next thing i did was add contact details for my business. On a lot of the business card examples i look at, the logos for the social media platforms were transparent with only a thin, black or white outline. I decided i wanted to use this in my business card in order to make it look a lot more professional. I did this using the 'remove background' tool in the properties section. However, this feature did not always work properly and sometimes left some or a lot of the background. To get around this issue, i used the eye drop tool to sample the exact colour of the background and also the pen tool to fill in the rest of the image.
Another common feature of the business cards i looked like at were these gradient effects. I liked the way they looked and thought the added depth and character to the design. I created mine in the bottom right corner, using the shape tool to create a small square in the corner. I used the copy and paste feature to make identical copies of the original square. I made the pattern with and then filled in the first square using a similar blue as the main background colour. I then filled in the other squares with a descending order, gradually getting lighter.
Overall, i am happy with the design i created for my business card. I think it presents me and my business in a professional way and would be appealing to potential clients and also potential employers.
